Basso Continuo

The course is open to all skill levels and aims to develop students' ability to interpret and perform figured bass on keyboards. The programme will be defined according to the level presented and possible collaborations with other classes, given the eminently performative nature of the practice. Individual and group lessons are planned to address both purely technical and interpretative aspects.

 

Accompagniments

As individual work progresses, offering participants the opportunity to receive regular accompaniment on the harpsichord, even a few times during their lessons, greatly contributes to their knowledge of the piece.

Harpsichordist Marco Crosetto studied at the Conservatory of Turin, his hometown, graduating in piano, composition and harpsichord. He furthered his studies at ESMUC in Barcelona as an Erasmus student with Béatrice Martin and in Paris, at CRR, with Noëlle Spieth and Stéphane Fuget, graduating in Chef de Chant, accompanist for Baroque opera. He is in high demand as a continuo player, working with several groups, including La Pietà dei Turchini in Naples, the ensemble La Chimera, La Venexiana, Mare Nostrum, and all the baroque ensembles in Turin. He has released an album of sonatas for mandolin and fortepiano, Beethoven and his Contemporaries, with mandolinist Raffaele La Ragione on the Arcana label.

He is a founding member of the baroque ensemble La Vaghezza, with which he won the Haendel Göttingen Competition in 2018 and has played at the most important baroque festivals in Europe. In 2015 and 2019, he won third prize at the Paola Bernardi harpsichord solo competition in Bologna. In 2017, with Mayah Kadish, he won first prize at the Selifa International Competition. He was a semi-finalist at the Bruges Harpsichord Competition in 2018. Since 2017, he has been employed as an accompanist in the early music departments of the conservatories of Turin, Novara, Cuneo and Milan. In 2025, he teaches harpsichord at the Sassari Conservatory.
