PRESENTATION OF THE BAROQUE VIOLIN COURSE

This course is designed as a space for research and experimentation within the Baroque violin repertoire. It is open to violinists and violists who already work in the historically informed performance tradition, as well as to those wishing to explore this musical language for the first time.

The work will focus on exploring the relationship between gesture, sound and style, integrating historical, technical and expressive elements. Individual lessons will be tailored to each student’s specific needs, with the aim of developing greater interpretative awareness and musical freedom.

Particular attention will be given to reading the sources and their practical application in daily practice, to build a more direct and creative relationship with the repertoire.

Students are invited to bring pieces of their own choice; upon request, it will be possible to agree on a programme of study in advance. It is recommended that, where possible, students bring copies of original sources or facsimiles, along with any modern editions.

Since 2021, Veronica Berardi has been studying the Baroque violin and historical performance at the B. Maderna Conservatoire in Cesena, under the guidance of Maestro Luca Giardini. At the same time, she has taken part in numerous masterclasses and advanced training programmes. In 2023, she was awarded a Master’s degree in Baroque violin with distinction and the jury’s congratulations, having submitted a thesis and given a concert dedicated to Italian female composers and performers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Since then, she has collaborated regularly and taken part in numerous projects, such as the recording of Alessandro Scarlatti’s oratorio *Humanità e Lucifero* and the production of the opera *Il Ciro* at the Teatro Goldoni.

From 2024, she held the post of first violin in the National Baroque Orchestra of Italian Conservatoires, with which she performed in numerous concerts in Italy and abroad, notably at the 2025 Osaka World Expo. That same year, she was selected for the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO), where she again held the post of first violin, collaborating with Shunske Sato, Dorothee Oberlinger, Enrico Onofri and Dirk Vermeuleen. During her young career, she has already had the opportunity to participate in numerous ensembles, with whom she performs in prestigious concert halls around the world. Veronica Berardi also devotes part of her activity to private teaching.
