THE VIOLIN IN BAROQUE MUSIC The course is addressed to violinists who have already a knowledge of the Baroque instrument, as well as to modern instrumentalists interested in the study or Baroque performance practice and who desire to know the original instrument. During the course, a solo repertoire and chamber music of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries will be studied, in the light of the storical information found in documents related to this subject (treatises, iconography, original texts, etc.). Aspects related to organology, position and instrumental technique of the Baroque violin.
CINZIA BARBAGELATA, solo and ensemble violinist, director of the Ensemble Aglaia, a Baroque group with original instruments founded in 1992, has been host of important Festivals in Italy and abroad, with repertoire from early music to twentieth century. To her activity as Baroque violinist, underlined by the praise of international critic and discographical prices, she parallely leads a career in contemporary and electronic (Agon, Cemat, Temporale), with important first performances for solo violin (Scelsi, Fedele, etc.) and music dedicated to herself. She has registered for Stradivarius, integral work of Bonporti, Galuppi, Sammartini, Mozart, for the journal Amadeus works of Vivaldi (Stravaganza, Estro Armonico), Bach (Art of the Fugue, Concertos for Violin) transcribed by Mozart from Bach and, moreover, for Nuova Era, Concerto, Tactus and international broadcast companies. She has given post-graduate and specialized courses in prestigious institutions (Melbourne University, Universidad Javeriana Bogotà, “Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale” di Saluzzo, Conservatorio B.Marcello di Venezia ecc., Corsi di Musica Antica a Parzanica BG). She teaches violin at the Conservatory G.Verdi of Milano, where she also gives courses in early music. From her didactic activity is born in 2004 the Orchestra Arcantico, with repertoire from the sixteenth century to ours days, performed second rigorous storical practice, which already encounter a international.
